Match Report | Pelicans ladies firsts travel away to a very freezing Spalding. Pelicans started exceptionally strong even with some key players missing. After a hard fought 10minutes pelicans go 1-0 up by a well worked goal by the forwards to be slotted In confidently by Amber Scott. Spalding made a come back from open play bringing the score line back to 1-1. Spalding were fighting hard to take the lead and were applying pressure constantly. Pelicans managed to keep the score line 1-1 to half time by some excellent goal keeping by Atlanta Stevenson and defending by the back four of Emily Pluck, Hannah Bowman, Nicola lankfer and Laura Tea. After a positive team talk by coach Tracy brown pelicans went out and started how we did in the first half. Applying the pressure back onto Spalding, with Lucy Lim and Annabel Brown really putting in a shift in midfleid. At every opportunity both girls were driving at Spalding with silky stick skills Pelicans then went 2-1 up, by a quick ball played from a foul in our own half, which was well worked by the forward line of Ella Scott and Grace Carrier, who fired the ball in and converted by Amy Anderson. A real text book goal. Spading showed no let up and continued to fire attacks which resulted in them going 3-2 up by two well worked goals, one from open play and one from a short corner. With spectator encouragement and a positive attitude by all team members pelicans showed real resilience and composure to sit in a last minute goal by Amy Anderson. Pelicans were extremely unlucky to have a goal saved off the line in the line in the dying seconds of full time. It was an outstanding team performance by all players who really pushed the boundaries of a unrelenting Spalding side. A well deserved player of the match was Lucy Lim. |
